​If you can manage it, making this healthy green drink a daily addition to your diet would help supplement vitamins and minerals you might otherwise miss.

The ginger and turmeric are brilliant for their anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.

We blend the veggies in this recipe as the pulp means you are getting the fiber along with the veggies which is important. If you prefer a smoother consistency, you can use a juicer instead of a blender but bear in mind you will need much more veg to get the same quantity of drink!

  • 400 mL water
  • 1 Lemon
  • 1 large bunch Kale
  • 1 Carrot(s)
  • 1 Apple(s)
  • 1 inch piece Ginger
  • 1 inch piece Fresh Turmeric

Directions

  1. Wash the kale and remove the leaves from the tough stalks.
  2. Top and tail the carrot and chop roughly.
  3. Core the apple and chop roughly.
  4. Peel the ginger and the turmeric.
  5. Add the water, the juice of 1 lemon and all the prepared ingredients in a powerful blender, and whiz until everything is smooth, about 15 seconds.
  6. Serve over ice.
